In line with the Yuletide season, Daiichi Properties through its partnership with Habitat for Humanity Philippines shared its mission of bringing people together in building hope and creating a better future. Habitat’s “Pamaskong Handog,” a meaningful gesture of support to the disadvantaged Filipino families during the festive season of Christmas gave Daiichi Properties the opportunity to give back and share joy. 15 Daiichi employees chose to spend their Sunday sharing their time with the 50 chosen families last December 14, 2014 at Barangay PNR-FTI Compound, Taguig City – one of Habitat’s assisted communities.
The compound, with a total land area of 5 hectares, was formerly a land-fill area. Community partners are composed of families who have been living for more than 5 years as informal settlers who occupied the FTI compound. Most of them work as drivers, security guards, vendor, garbage collectors and construction workers, government and private employees.
Before the festivities began, the Daiichi Properties team had a tour of the compound led by Ms. Elvie G. Pablo, one of the community partners. She showed how grateful the community was to have a home that they can call their own which was a secure, clean, and enjoyable place to live. Houses are mid-rise twin buildings made from concrete interlocking blocks, consisting of 96 units, with an average floor area of 30 square meters per unit.
Bringing inspiration to the community, Ms. Jhoan Sancha of Daiichi Properties’ said that “in our continuing growth, we aim to build sustainably and provide more opportunities to the next generation of community members.” She then challenged the children of the PNR-FTI Compound to “study well, continue dreaming and work hard to achieve their dreams so that one day they can also work and be part of Daiichi’s developments.” The Daiichi team distributed Noche Buena packages and shared some joyful moments with the community. The children formed teams to participate in singing, dancing, games and poster making.
Mr. Eric Manuel, Daiichi Properties’ Vice President for Business Development said, “our principle of ‘Building Sustainably for a Better Future’ is rooted in the belief that sustainable developments encompasses more than the buildings we develop, but the empowering of the communities that we are connected to.”
